STS member Newell Robinson, MD, chairman of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery at St. Francis Hospital in NY, was part of the team that performed mitral heart-valve replacement on a 90-year-old patient. Dr. Robinson believes that this pioneering surgery, which was part of a clinical trial, will add years to the patient’s life.
