A father-son cardiothoracic surgeon duo—STS members Drs. Lyle and David Joyce—performed a lifesaving second heart transplant. The patient’s first donor heart—also sewed into place by Dr. Lyle Joyce—survived almost 31 years, believed to be the fourth-longest in the history of organ transplantation.
